Welcome to the "Horsepower" Corn Maze 2011 |
|
|
The 2011 corn maze is growing better than ever! After a challenging 2010 with the summer drought, we worked on the soil conditions in the maze to prevent such drastic challenges in future droughts. At the end of 2010, the cows ate the corn at the end of the season and then round bales were fed in the maze to improve the organic matter in certain sections. Manure from the cows was used as fertilizer and to improve organic matter in the spring of 2011. The maze was planted July 1, 2011 to allow for the corn to be green as long as possible through October. Cutting was done all during July and August to make this year the best ever! The theme represents the work of the horse to help the American farmer begin the work of growing America from the east coast to the west. Our horses were eventually transformed into horsepower, which spawned the first American Agricultural Revolution. Tractors have changed a lot since then, but so have horses. |
